New work for a nocturnal themed show
at Childhood's End Gallery in Olympia, WA for Fall Artwalk- October, 2026.
Have you ever remember leaving your body at night?
Do you dream about animals or plants? And do you ever walk through a doorway, a portal to enter into another world?
These are subjects I am very interested in. Where do we go at night?
And why do we remember some of it but not others? My new series Night Portals is a fun exploration in symbols, plants and animals, and the allure of the unknown subconscious worlds in all of us. I am using the wonderful night blooming flowers to illustrate the allure of this 'other world'. Nocturnal animals entice the viewer- almost an outer way- to have you enter the inner way. And then sacred symbols that can float in our frontal lobe. Ancient symbols that generations of humans have seen, focused on and realized are the hidden doors.
