TULIPA IMAGINARIUM is like peering at a snapshot of the world of Tulips and their symbiotic companions.
Tulips present themselves at the end of winter, heralding the new year and the new spring. A symbol of making it through a dark time of winter. Their strong stalks and sturdy petals emerge and exhibit for weeks before diminishing.
Below this beauty is a fantastical underworld of drama between predator and prey.
Descending levels of relationships between all kinds of organisms. Playing a role in these sculptures are mycorrhiza relationships between plant and fungi. This includes a reference to amazing
transfigurations of insect life.
Each work is reminiscent of high craft from times gone past,
utilizing classic mediums and intricate assembly. Not unlike antiquities of opulent homes and palaces, they try to capture a mood, a moment, an observation of nature.
