To raise money for my new 'exploratory Lab' (thanks mom!) I am beginning a new series of decorative arts. Mirrors and lamps like nothing you have seen.
Above are some sketches for the new mirror series. I have ordered the mirrors and plan to create a few pieces of the new line before end of february.

I have been really enjoying the copperwork aspect of my sculptures, so in preparation I have set up two mini studios to create the work with. Hundreds of pieces will be needed to create each mirror. I have made dozens of kinds of mini birds and scouted out several different types of rain and snow beads for completing these magical works. The designs vary between 6 and 20 inches for now due to the complexity of the construction. Currently I am designing the leaves which will be pressed out by a company. In 2014 I made hundreds of leaves by hand, but since no one really noticed, I decided to go ahead and hire a manufacturer to press out copper leaves of my own design.

Looking for gold plating services has been a part of the process, to make some of these 'little jewels' really fancy! Seattle carries some great companies for this kind of work. Though a bit prices, there is nothing like 24 carat to make a piece shiny , decadent and rich.

UPDATED !! below you can see a few finished 'spring fairy forest ' mirrors for sale now at Splash Gallery. Intricate detail includes cap and shelf mushrooms, bird and fairy nests and white luminous blooms.  See yourself framed by spring!
