Fairy Stems About two years ago a friend and neighbor ordered a 'Dogwood Fairy Stem'. She loved dogwood trees and fairies, and she wanted to invite in more fairy experiences! It was a new kind of project for me, including very detailed copper work, flowers and buds and the wee delicate china painted fairies. It took two years to teach myself some new skills and build on my previous metalworking abilities. When completed, the project was over 400 pieces and took a long time to make! She was able to select her favorite fairies and I placed them in good positions on the stem...they seem to ride the branch! Removable, the fairies are lifelike and can be posed or brushed... After this piece was completed I exhibited it at Splash Gallery and then it was installed in my friends home. It was a great success and after all that hard work I was inspired to immediately began a small series of flower stems. Below is a sample and there are to come!
