I live in the woods, where the wild things are. Elk run by my house, traveling, rutting, calling, playing.
Last year while taking a walk I came across a whole herd of moms, babies and one massive male. His horns seemed to be as wide as his 6 ft plus height. In the spirit of these great creatures, I am working on a series of 'wipiki' for July. I am still making new unicorns and ravens, but the stags are so much more fun! The bodies are made of porcelain and the legs and horns made of copper. The antlers stretch out in fantastic length and width, resembling roots or branches. They are hung with glass, crystal and birds. Because they are so fragile (though I love them standing free) I am working on platforms, and displays that make them safer to handle and collect. Come see these marvels along with unicorns, raven and more at SPLASH Gallery on the wharf in Olympia, Washington.
