The last Raven

She was 27 inches, but shrunk in final firing to 24. The size of an average raven!

Adding the copper feet

Constructing the 'Halo' (see it around her neck). This involved placing it over 50 times onto raven for positioning leaves and flowers.

Final selection includes 40 beautiful china Painted porcelain flowers. This was out of 80 or more ready for this show. I call them modern romance flower assortment!!

Yes, each leaf was hand cut, heated, formed, sanded, buffed and braised onto the halo....WOW! I chose ivy for its symbolism of undying love-my grandparents were married 80 years.

Here she is in one of the final stages of positioning and braising.

The halo has now been primed with high quality archival spray paint.

Handpainting takes several sessions. But soooo much fun!

So she is almost done. Months of preparation, multiple stages of construction and a huge amount of patience.

This piece included over 200 pieces- 40 flowers alone! She is called 'Mature Raven with Floral Halo'. Get it? There is young raven, raven and mature raven....
