Recently I have added taking care of my grandparents to my list of work and inspirations! When I get a chance I work on the new pieces for my next series. The name hasnt solidified, but something like, 'Dark Forest: NW Fairy Tales' is the going theme.
I have wanted to evoke a feeling of being in a deep dark forest. A mix of unseen and seen figures and elements. Magical and weird scenes in a cathedral or castle 'box'. Now don't think this piece is finished! As I have lately reverted to insane amounts of work into my pieces, this piece has only a few hours into it so far. Copper vines, roots and trees are still being added (over 200 hundred copper pieces so far). The cathedral is so much work! But a lot of fun to design. Bigfoot and his maiden are being positioned among the 'scotchbroom' trees. (Scotchbroom is an invasive species, washingtonians love to hate) I am working on four pieces for a Olympia Artwalk Show in Downtown Olympia, April 22 and 23rd, 2016. Come to the Blackbird Mercantile on Washington st. to see the work for the month after as well. The unicorn below will be black and hidden in another set of trees for a piece just started. COME TO SPALSH GALLERY ON MARCH 25th, 2016 to see our UNVEILING of new pieces. Splash is a local cooperative gallery with 18 local artists working together in a wonderful waterfront space. Later this year I will be offering unicorns for sale in the gallery!
